Artist's Statement

I grew up in Northern California and attended University or California at Davis, graduating with a BA and MA in Fine Arts.

Shortly there after I flew to London and signed up with a Land-rover trip that was traveling from England to Pakistan. We camped out and cooked over an open fire, all through Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Iran. After returning from Pakistan, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and began dreaming of moving to New Mexico. At this point I've lived more than half my life here in Albuquerque, enjoying the canyons, the deserts, the rural communities and the abandoned habitations, seeking out the unusual or the delightful.

I love driving these back roads, hatched lines on the map, exploring former uranium mines, old cemeteries, crumbling adobes- looking for what was left behind. Vehicles from the 30's and 40's are lying in arroyos, gradually filling in with silt. Couches and appliances, trailers and farm equipment have met similar fates- over a cliff or abandoned on a mesa. I am both amused and shocked by what I find.
